Hilpertsau is a district of Gernsbach in the Rastatt district in Baden-Württemberg . The suburb is located south of Gernsbach in the Murg valley . The federal highway 462 and the rail route of the Murgtalbahn , which is integrated into the urban railway network of the Karlsruhe transport association , run alongside the town .

history

The first documentary mention can be found in the loan book of the Speyer Monastery, created in 1339/40 . The name Hilboltzowe mentioned there probably suggests a personal reference . Hilpertsau is recorded in the fief book as a Speyrian fiefdom owned by the Counts of Eberstein . However, there are no corresponding loan letters. After half of the county was sold to the Margraves of Baden in 1397, the village was divided between Baden and Eberstein, and from 1505 it was jointly administered by the Baden-Eberstein condominium . In 1624, however, the Counts of Eberstein retired, as their part in the Rufach Treaty was awarded to the Counts of Wolkenstein and von Gronsfeld. The Gronsfelder sold their quarter in 1673 to the Speyrian bishop, whereas the Margrave of Baden-Baden intervened and in 1676 was able to enter into the purchase agreements of 1673. With the extinction of the Swabian line of the Counts of Wolkenstein in 1695, their quarters also came into Baden ownership, as it was also given to the diocese of Speyer as a fief in 1673 by the Wolkensteiners.

On April 1, 1970, Hilpertsau and Obertsrot merged . On July 1, 1974, the community Obertsrot was incorporated into the city of Gernsbach .
