history
The village was created as a forest hoof village. The first written mention of the town of Harmerstorff goes back to 1446. The parish of the parish consists of 4 hooves , normally the pastor only had one hoof as a share, originally the neighboring villages of Auerbach and Günsdorf also belonged to the Hormersdorfer parish.
The first settlers in the place were Franconian farmers. In the 13th century, Hormersdorf was under the rule of the Stollberg ( Hoheneck ) manor . Mining began in the 16th century, especially the search for silver ore , during which time various mines were operated. The last mining right was registered in 1901 and given up nine years later. In 1539, after the Reformation , Oswald Günther was the first Protestant pastor.
As early as the 18th century, there were a few hosiery workers. Several stocking factories were built at the end of the 19th century. From 1911 there was the Hormersdorf station on the narrow-gauge railway Schönfeld-Wiesa-Meinersdorf , which was located in the area of the neighboring municipality of Auerbach. Passenger traffic on the route ceased in 1974, and freight traffic a year later.
In 1929 a memorial for those who died in the First World War was erected on the Huthübel . In 2015 there was an 850th anniversary celebration, the fictitious founding year 1165 was assumed. From 1974 on, the previously independent Günsdorf belonged to Hormersdorf as a district, since 1999 Günsdorf has belonged to the city of Zwönitz.
Until March 21, 2008, Hormersdorf formed together with Auerbach and Gornsdorf the administrative community Auerbach based in Auerbach and then joined the administrative community Zwönitz . On January 1, 2013, it was incorporated into the city of Zwönitz. The last mayor was Gudrun Wimmer.

Culture and sights
On the southern outskirts, where the so-called Geyersche Forest begins, there is the nature reserve Hormersdorfer Hochmoor with rare animal and plant species (e.g. sundew ). On the northern outskirts, in the Lohwald ( called Looch by the locals ), there is the so-called Steinrinne or steep driveway, which was part of the all-terrain drive around Zwönitz in the 1960s and 1970s . On September 24th and 25th, 2012, the steep ascent was used again as part of the 87th International Six-Day Tour.
Dialect clock
Since October 15, 2006 there has been a number clock on the new village square in Hormersdorf. The installation shows the time as it is said in the region around Hormersdorf, namely with numbers. This is a linguistic peculiarity, although it is not known where this time information comes from. As is widely used, the full quarter hours are indicated as “a quarter (two)”, “half (two)”, “three quarters (two)” and “at (two)” (o'clock). But the Hormersdorfer apply the same principle every five minutes. The five-minute intervals are known as "digits" because they are marked by the digits on the clock face. So when the big hand is on 2, 2 “digits” of the hour have passed, so it's “2 digits late”. When the corresponding hour is given, it sounds like "two digits two".
The (second) hour is then given every five minutes as follows:
- 1:05 p.m. = 1 digit 2 - ä digit two'e
- 1:10 p.m. = 2 digits 2 - two digits two
- 1:15 p.m. = quarter 2 - värtel two'e
- 1:20 p.m. = 4 digits 2 - four digits two
- 1:25 p.m. = 5 digits 2 - five digits two
- 1.30 p.m. = half past two - half past two
- 1:35 p.m. = 7 digits 2 - see digits two
- 13:40 = 8 points 2 - ocht digits zwee'e
- 1:45 p.m. = three quarters 2 - dreivärtel two'e
- 1:50 p.m. = 10 digits 2 - zaa digits two
- 1:55 p.m. = 11 digits 2 - eleven digits two
- 2:00 p.m. = at 2 - üm zwee'e
On the Hormersdorfer installation, this time is displayed "digitally", that is, as writing, in Ore Mountains dialect ( two digits, two ).
Hormersdorfer dialect
What distinguishes Hormersdorf from all other places in the area is the very own dialect of the Western Ore Mountains . This is not or only partially passed on to the younger generation by the older generation, so that the language in Hormersdorf adapts more and more to the environment.
The linguistic peculiarities are mainly in the phonology, but also morphologically and syntactically one can hear a number of uniqueness in the language of the older, “local” residents.
An example is the disappearance of the / r / morpheme for nouns in the plural:
Furthermore, many terms are used in Hormersdorf that are sometimes not known in other places:
Infrastructure
State road 233 (Schulstraße - Auerbacher Straße - Thumer Straße) runs through the village . Between 1911 and 1976 the place had a train station on the narrow-gauge railway Schönfeld-Wiesa-Meinersdorf . However, this was located one kilometer outside of Hormersdorf on the outskirts of Auerbach.
