Location of the administrative community Zwönitz in the Erzgebirgskreis

The administrative community Zwönitz is an administrative community in the Erzgebirge in the Free State of Saxony . It was founded on March 21, 2008 by the two communities Zwönitz and Hormersdorf. It came into being after the Auerbach administrative community was dissolved . On January 1, 2009, the town of Elterlein , which had previously been part of the Geyer administrative community, joined the Zwönitz administrative community. Hormersdorf was incorporated into Zwönitz on January 1, 2013.

The administrative community is located in the Middle Ore Mountains in the Geyerischen Wald, about 25 km as the crow flies southwest of Chemnitz and at the source of the Zwönitzbach . It is approx. 30 km to the border to the Czech Republic . The highest point in the community area is 760  m above sea level. NN , the lowest point 485  m above sea level. NN .
