About this picture

The administrative community Zschorlau is a Saxon administrative community between the two communities Zschorlau and Bockau in the Erzgebirgskreis . The fulfillment municipality and administrative seat is Zschorlau.

geography

The approximately 41 km² administrative area is located in the Western Ore Mountains at an altitude between 500 and 550 meters above sea level . Both member communities are separated by the Zwickauer Mulde , which arises in the Vogtland and merges with the Freiberger Mulde at Colditz to form a united Mulde . Zschorlau, which has the larger share of the administrative area with 22 km², lies north of the Zwickauer Mulde. The 19 km² large Bockau extends south of the river. Another body of water in the area is, for example, the Zschorlaubach .

The administrative community borders in the northwest on Schneeberg and in the northeast on the large district town of Aue . The town of Lauter-Bernsbach is neighboring in the east, and the large district town of Schwarzenberg / Erzgeb is located south-east of the administrative area . The town of Eibenstock borders in the south and south- west and the municipality of Stützengrün in the west .

In terms of traffic, the area of the two municipalities is mainly developed through the federal highway 283 , which follows the course of the Zwickauer Mulde. There are connections to the federal highway 72 via Hartenstein or Stollberg / Erzgeb in the direction of Aue . With the federal highway 101 starting in Aue, it is also possible to drive via Schwarzenberg to the district town of Annaberg-Buchholz . In the other direction of the B 283 there is a connection via Eibenstock to Klingenthal on the Czech border . The Saxon State Road 273 also connects the two member communities directly. This route begins in Zschorlau and ends south of Bockau on the S 274.

Member municipalities

On January 1, 1999, the two communities, which at that time were still part of the Aue-Schwarzenberg district , merged to form an administrative community. As a fulfilling municipality, Zschorlau was entrusted with various municipal tasks from Bockau, such as the creation of land use plans.

In the following, the two member municipalities are listed with their possibly existing official municipality parts:

  • Zschorlau , with the districts of Albernau, Burkhardtsgrün and Zschorlau
  • Bockau , without any other official part of the municipality

Since the district reform on August 1, 2008 , the administrative community has belonged to the Erzgebirgskreis, in which ten other administrative communities existed as of January 1, 2013.
