history
1350 Börnichen is first documented in the loan book of Friedrich III. of severity mentioned as Burnichin .
With the Reformation in 1539 Börnichen came to the parish of Waldkirchen. The place was the official village of the Office Augustusburg (formerly Schellenberg). A school house was built in 1788. At the suggestion of the magistrate Friedrich August Förster, the Wichernhaus was built in 1852 as a rescue and educational institution for poor children and orphans (called Friedrich-August-Stift from 1858 ). In 1871 a new school building is built. In 1876 the Neunzehnhain district in the Bornwald became independent. In 1900 a neo-Gothic church was built and a cemetery was set up. In the same year Börnichen was connected to the telephone network. On December 12, 1904, the volunteer fire brigade was founded. In 1911 it was connected to the electricity network. Between 1911 and 1914, the Neunzehnhain I dam was built to supply Chemnitz with drinking water . The town hall was built in 1926. In 1928 the construction of a municipal water pipeline began. After the Wichernhaus was used from 1940 to 1952 as a warehouse for the labor service and the State Youth Court, handicapped children were looked after by the Inner Mission from 1952 . With the construction of a water pipe in 1985 from the Neunzehnhain dam and elevated tanks on the Grünhainichener Berg in 1992, Börnichen was connected to the drinking water network. Since 1994 the community has been part of the Wildenstein Administrative Association .
