Klaus Teuchert (born March 18, 1939 in Börnichen / Erzgeb. ) Is a former German enduro athlete .

During his career he won the International Six-Day Race in 1966, 1967 and 1969 with the GDR Trophy team . At the Six Days 1965 he won the coveted International Silver Vase with the MZ Quartet. Klaus Teuchert was successful at the International Austrian Alpine Tour and the International Tatra Tour in Zakopane and was GDR champion several times .

Athletic career

Klaus Teuchert's off-road sports career began in 1959 at ASG Vorwärts Kamenz. In early 1960, Teuchert went to ASK Vorwärts Potsdam . Under the wing of trainer Werner Rosenbrock he drove a 175 MZ.

Teuchert brought home a gold medal for the first time in 1962 from the International Austrian Alpine Tour. Immediately before that, Klaus won the class up to 175 cm³ at the GDR championship run in Hettstedt . The next year he started for MC Zschopau, won gold at the International Tatra Drive in Zakopane and was appointed to the silver vase team for the Six Days.

His entry into the six-day race ended with fourth place in the MZ quartet. At the Six Days 1964 he won a gold medal, five weeks later Klaus Teuchert was third in the GDR championship. At the end of 1964 he moved back to ASK - which had moved its headquarters to Leipzig - and there to the large, 300 MZ. After winning the 1965 race in Hettstedt and further top placements, Klaus became East German champion for the first time.

The International Six Days Enduro in 1965 on the Isle of Man , he played again on the MZ ETS 175 and landed his first major success. In a quartet with Werner Stiegler , Horst Golz and Günter Baumann , he won the silver vase competition. A year later Klaus Teuchert was part of the victorious GDR Trophy team and was class winner. Likewise at the international three-day trip in Isny im Allgäu  - for the second overall place he received the "silver fir branch". In 1967 he first won the class up to 350 cm³ at “Around Zschopau” and again the international trophy at the Six Days with the MZ sextet. The next year Teuchert was a member of the silver vase team, which took second place. In the GDR championship he won the title for the third time.

The first European Championship in 1968 he finished behind the outstanding Květoslav Mašita in second place. At the world's largest off -road sport event , the Six Days, Klaus Teuchert was once again successful in 1969 as a member of the GDR Trophy team. He ended his career with a third place in the trophy team at the 46th International Six Day Race in 1971.
