Květoslav Mašita

Květoslav Mašita (born October 2, 1947 in Prague ) is a former Czechoslovak enduro athlete .

Mašita he was one of the most successful pilots in motorcycle off-road racing. He won the International Six-Day Race six times with the ČSSR Trophy Team . He was also European champion ten years in a row  - at a time when there was no individual world championship . In his home country he won eight national championship titles.

Athletic career

Before Mašita became champion of the ČSSR for the first time in 1969, he already had international successes. In the European Cup in 1967, he finished second behind MZ driver Karlheinz Wagner from the GDR . A year later - the European Cup competition was upgraded to the European Championship - he won the title for the first time. Mašita defended this up to and including 1977 - always on a Jawa in the class up to 350 cm³.

In 1967 he was also a member of the ČSSR Trophy team, which took third place at the Six Days in Zakopane, Poland . In 1968 and 1969 he finished second with his team. The following year Mašita was able to celebrate victory in a sextet. In 1971 , 1973 , 1974 , 1977 and 1978 he continued the winning streak and became World Team Champion at the Six Days with the ČSSR team.

Květoslav Mašita celebrated his departure from active sport in 1979 at the race around Zschopau .
