Lothar Schäffner
Lothar Schäffner (born October 19, 1943 in Rottweil ) is a German educational scientist.
Life and career
Schäffner grew up in Stuttgart . After studying social sciences and the humanities in Tübingen and Kiel , he worked in institutions for publicly funded adult education from 1970, five years of which in a managerial position. In 1976 he was offered a position at the Institute for Adult Education at the University of Hanover . In addition to his work as a professor, he held the office of dean of the Faculty of Education for several years and later that of a senator for the entire university for 10 years. In the meantime, on leave of absence, he took over the management of the education department of Continental AG Hannover for the German-speaking locations and was thus responsible for the training and further education of 25,000 employees. Subsequently, he established the new focus on “in-company training” in his institute.
