history
In the 12./13. In the 17th century, Thuringians and Franks settled the area. The first documentary mentions took place in the 14th century. 1381 Schönfeld, 1386 Neundorf as Im neue Dorf and 1398 Wiesa in the form of Knight Heiderich von der Wiese. In today's Wiesenbad, the first buildings were built in 1474 with the lordly mill of the knight in Wiesa.
Mining began in the 15th century. Iron, cobalt, copper, silver and tin were mined here. At the turn of the 16th century, a warm spring was discovered on the right bank of the Zschopau in the later village of Wiesenbad, which was set in in 1501 and inaugurated in 1505 by the bishop of Meißen as the St. Jobs bath.
In 1604, Hans-Georg Meusinger von Kollersritt had the manor house built in the Wiesa manor.
The Thirty Years War (1618-1648) suffered here too. For example, all the residents of Schönfeld left the place and sought protection in Annaberg . (See also literature )
In the 18th century the ore deposits in the tunnels were running low and new sources of income had to be found. So they began with lace-making, trimmings and agriculture, which Schönfeld experienced a heyday especially through the flax cultivation.
January 1, 1956 was the hour of birth of the municipality of Thermalbad Wiesenbad, not to be confused with today's municipality, because it was not until January 1, 1999 that the towns of Neundorf, Schönfeld, Wiesenbad and Wiesa merged to form the municipality of Wiesa, which on January 1, 2005 has been renamed the thermal bath Wiesenbad.
