The station Schönfeld-Wiesa was an operating point of the railway line Annaberg-Buchholz unt Bf-Flöha and the narrow-gauge railway Schönfeld-Wiesa-Meinersdorf , which started here until 1967, in the area of the municipality of thermal baths Wiesenbad . In 2007 the station was closed in favor of the newly established Wiesa (Erzgeb) stop .

location

The station was in the west of Wiesa not far from the federal highway 95 . Schönfeld joins in the northwest. The former function as a train station is still reminiscent of the "Bahnhofstrasse" on which the area is located. The confluence of the Sehma in the Zschopau is to the west of the train station.

history

Surname

The station has been renamed several times:

  • until November 30, 1888: Schönfeld
  • until December 23, 1904: Schönfeld train station
  • until April 30, 1908: Schönfeld (Zschopautal) train station
  • from May 1, 1908: Schönfeld-Wiesa

business

On February 1, 1866, Schönfeld-Wiesa station was opened as a Schönfeld stop on the standard-gauge railway line Annaberg-Buchholz and Bf-Flöha. The station was dedicated to the stop in 1874 and to the train station in 1886. With the opening of the Schönfeld- Geyer section of the Schönfeld-Wiesa-Meinersdorf narrow-gauge railway on December 1, 1888 , the station was renamed Schönfeld Bahnhof and expanded extensively. It carried the new name to distinguish it from the newly opened Schönfeld stop west of the station on the narrow-gauge railway. The three platform tracks - two for standard gauge and one for narrow gauge - were supplemented in 1906 by another standard-gauge platform track, which was accompanied by an expansion of the railway facilities to the north. Although the station was completely in the municipality of Wiesa, it was initially named after the somewhat distant town of Schönfeld. Only at the instigation of the community of Wiesa did he receive the double name Schönfeld-Wiesa in 1908.

The Schönfeld-Wiesa train station underwent several structural changes in the course of its existence. In addition to the reception and farm buildings, there was still a free pass, goods shed, engine shed, coal shed and material shed on high-rise buildings. As a gauge changing station , the station had a trolley pit, a water station, a loading platform, a weighbridge and an equipment ramp. A signal box and a platform underpass were added later. At times the station had eleven tracks.

The station has been rebuilt several times, so that in recent years, among other things, a transition from narrow-gauge to standard-gauge on the same platform was possible.

Track side, the systems have already been dismantled (2016)

With the closure of the section from Schönfeld-Wiesa to Thum on August 15, 1967, passenger traffic on the narrow-gauge railway ended. Only residual goods traffic between Schönfeld-Wiesa and the Schönfeld paper factory at km 1.45 continued. The route behind it towards Thum was dismantled in stages. Since the remaining narrow-gauge remnant to the Schönfeld paper factory had a steep gradient, steam locomotives had to continue to be used, the operation of which was very uneconomical for the Deutsche Reichsbahn . On the other hand, the paper mill could not do without a siding, which is why the track section was converted to standard gauge in April 1985. In 1993 the connecting line to the paper mill was finally shut down. Until 2001, a small remnant of the narrow-gauge track survived in the former trolley pit.

Until 2007 the station was served by the DB Erzgebirgsbahn . As part of the modernization of the Annaberg-Buchholz and Bf-Flöha railway line, the Schönfeld-Wiesa station was replaced by the more conveniently located new Wiesa stop . On March 31, 2007, Schönfeld-Wiesa station was taken out of service. This was followed by the complete dismantling of the track system and replacement by a continuous track. Today only the reception building used as a residential building and the goods shed still exist of the formerly extensive structures.
