Steve Jenkner (born May 31, 1976 in Lichtenstein ) is a former German motorcycle racer .

He is a trained gas-water plumber and lives with his wife Mandy and their two children in Hohenstein-Ernstthal , in the immediate vicinity of the Sachsenring .

Career

Steve Jenkner began his motorsport career in 1989 in the ADAC Mini-Bike Championship , in which he won the ADAC Promotion Prize in 1990 . About the stations ADAC Junior Cup and International German Championship and guest appearances in the Championship he succeeded in 1997 made it into the motorcycle world championship .

Since then, Steve Jenkner has been working steadily on his skills, his breakthrough came in the 2001 season with his first two podium places in the races in the Netherlands and in the Czech Republic . The 2003 season was his most successful World Championship year with his victory in the rain race in Assen and five other podium finishes. However, Jenkner's 2004 season was unable to build on these successes .

In 2005 , an age limit in the 125 cm³ class was forced to switch to the class up to 250 cm³. The season started unpromisingly with falls and injuries. In his home race at the Sachsenring , the ninth race in the 250cc class of the year, the Saxon earned the first two World Championship points with 14th place. In the end, Jenkner only reached 23rd place in the world championship with 13 world championship points.

Since he did not receive any competitive material for the World Cup in 2006, Steve Jenkner officially withdrew from racing, but only a few months later took the opportunity to sign a contract as a test driver for the traditional Italian brand Fantic . As part of this activity, Jenkner also competed again in some races for the European Championship.

He worked as a tire technician for the Japanese manufacturer Bridgestone in the MotoGP class of the motorcycle world championship until they left. The MotoGP is currently being equipped by the French tire manufacturer Michelin
