The Kunstplatte association was established in the summer of 1998 by the Stendaler housing association and the Monika von Puttkamer art salon. The four-week short-term project that was just planned has become a sustainable cultural center for the city of Stendal . Since November 1998, the art plate has been a registered non-profit association (Stendal District Court VR 456). In January 1999, the Kunstplatte eV started its work, which has been successful to this day and is recognized far beyond the city limits, initially with sponsorship money and voluntary support. The board consists of five members of the association, the chairman of the board is currently Bernd Zürcher.
The rehearsals as well as most of the workshops and performances take place in the club's own rooms. Some large projects have been developed in cooperation with the Altmark Theater .

Off stage
Since November 2005, the Kunstplatte stage has also been open for guest performances, concerts and other events. It offers 80 seats and has since established itself as an independent off-theater in northern Saxony-Anhalt. MundArt, VoicesOnly, Patrice Feifarek, Philipp Wiechert and Anke Berger have performed as artists.

Changing courses and workshops
The Kunstplatte regularly offers courses and workshops of all kinds. Guest lecturers give lessons in acting, dance, singing, but also in the visual arts.

Orchestra schrÄgetÖne.stendal
The orchestra schrÄgetÖne , founded by Sebastian Socha, has existed in the association since 2003 and was founded especially for the musical Roméo et Juliette (2004). The young musicians come from all over Germany. Since the beginning, the orchestra has supported many public events nationwide, including the following major projects:
