Kunz of Würzburg

Kunz von Würzburg († after 1371 ) was the first mentioned bailiff of Lower Lusatia .

Life

Its origin is unknown. It is possible that the original name did not refer to the Franconian city of Würzburg. It is not known whether he is identical to a Conrad Wirtz who was mentioned in Spremberg in 1350 .

In 1359 Kunz von Würzburg was named Margrave Friedrich III in a document . von Meißen mentioned as governor of Lower Lusatia about the settlement of legal disputes between the cities of Guben , Frankfurt and Crossen. However, the document could no longer be found in the 19th century. Kunz is said to have built a castle in Calau and brought some kitchen villages into the possession of the governor.

In 1371 King Karl IV. At the request of Frederick III. a privilege over the rights of Kunz from Würzburg. No further information is known about him.

It is questionable whether he is identical to a Conrad von Würzburg in Coburg in 1364.
