The domed tomb of Monge ( Portuguese Tholos do Monge ) is located about five kilometers southwest of Sintra in Portugal , on the Monge , one of the highest mountains in the Serra da Sintra .

The building was erected as block masonry during the Copper Age, built into the slope and vaulted with a tholos . The building material consists of granite and porphyry .

The round chamber has a diameter of 4.6 m and is still preserved up to a height of 2.5 m. The only 2.2 m long drawn-in corridor ( dromos ) between the chamber and the semicircular exedra - like , but hardly preserved atrium is 70 cm wide at the chamber entrance. At the approach to the forecourt, the corridor is 1.4 m wide, but only preserved up to a height of 50 cm. Among the Copper Age finds, which mainly consist of ceramic fragments, there are also those of bell beakers . You are now in Lisbon (Museu dos Servios Geológiços). Monge was excavated by Carlos Ribeiro (1813–1882) in 1880 , but there are no excavation notes.

Nearby is the Anta de Adrenunes .
