Kupsch ( spelling : kupsch ) is a supermarket chain that has around 20 branches in Lower Franconia and the surrounding areas. With 10 branches in Würzburg alone , it is the dominant supermarket chain there and stands out from many discounters with a full range of high-quality food products . Almost all branches have their own butcher , a bakery counter, a wide range of newspapers and magazines, sell fresh flowers and offer an extensive selection of Franconian wines .

history

The retailer Bernhard Kupsch laid the foundation stone for the chain in 1914 with the opening of three stores in Würzburg.

In 1955 the company opened a branch on Würzburger Domstrasse in the shopping mall that was built there after the war. Further branches were opened in Würzburg (in competition with “Konsum” ).

In 2000 the company, which had been run by the descendants of the company founder, was taken over by Edeka Handelsgesellschaft Nordbayern-Sachsen-Thüringen mbH .
