Kur ( Kuur ) is one of the Indonesian Kei Islands .

geography

Kur is the largest of the islands in the sub-district ( Kecamatan ) Pulau Pulau Kur , in the west of the Kei Islands. It lies between Kaimear , Tengah and Bui in the north and Wonin , Mangur and Fadol in the south. The islands belong to the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) of the southeastern Moluccas (Maluku Tenggara) of the Maluku province .

Kur is hilly with the Namsar ( 423  m ) as the highest point. Several places lie on the north and west coast course. One of them is Lokwirin , on the northern tip of the island. The white sandy beaches are interesting for tourists.

population

The population is culturally very different from that of the other Kei Islands in the east. On Kur, as on Fadol and Kaimear, the language Kur is spoken. It is closely related to Teor , which is spoken in the Watubela Islands . The otherwise used kei ( Saumlaki, Veveu Evav ) is also spoken as a lingua franca on cure.

transport

A ferry connects Kur with the town of Tual on Kei Dullah . The individual villages can be reached via roads. Motorbike taxis ( Ojeks ) serve as public transport .
