Cure (Holy Roman Empire)
In the Holy Roman Empire, the electoral assembly to determine the Roman-German king or emperor was called a cure . The word is derived from the Middle High German kur or kure (“choice”) and is a cognate from the Dutch keuren , “to look, to sample , to test”.
Initially, all of the so-called greats of the empire were entitled to vote , and since the second half of the 13th century only the electors .
