Kurgan beef
The Kurgan cattle ( Russian Курганская , transcribed Kurganskaja ) is a dual-purpose cattle breed from Russia .
Breeding history
In the 19th century, local cattle were crossed with Tagil cattle , Simmental cattle , Yaroslavl cattle and a few other breeds in the Kurgan and Tyumen Oblasts in the Urals Federal District in Russia . In 1901 these cattle and the local West Siberian landrace were crossed with Shorthorn cattle . Systematic breeding began in 1922. In 1935 a state breeding company was founded. A herdbook was first introduced in 1949 .

- Weight of cows 520 - 550 kg, bulls 800 - 900 kg
- good meat quality; daily increase in fattening steers 800-900 g / day
- Milk yield 3200 - 3700 kg with 3.8 - 3.9% fat
Occurrence
Today Kurgan cattle are kept in the oblasts of Kurgan, Chelyabinsk , Omsk , Tyumen and Orenburg and in Bashkortostan . In 1980 the total was 322,000.
