Kurin ( Ukrainian курінь ; Russian курень , Kuren ) is a military term established by the Cossacks for a military unit.

In the army of the Zaporozhian Cossacks , he was a military administrative unit equivalent to a battalion of 400 to 800 men. At the end of the existence of Zaporozhye Sich this was divided into 38 Kurin, who had named their relatives to the place or the region of origin (as Kaniwer , Korsun , Umaner or Poltava Kurin).

At the time of the Ukrainian People's Republic , the Sitsch riflemen were initially organized as a Kurin, which was later expanded. After the overthrow of Pavlo Skoropadskyj , the Kurin was dissolved.

The central economic and administrative building of the corresponding Cossack unit was also known as Kurin / Kuren.
