Kurokawa-No
The residents of Kurokawa have maintained the tradition of Nō theater for 400 years . The art is passed on from generation to generation. The performances take place every year at the Ogi festival at the end of winter. Performers and musicians are made up of the local population - the only nō play in Japan that is performed by amateur actors. This is not a mere theatrical performance, but a ritual act in honor of the local Shinto deities . That is why the event takes place in the Kasuga Shrine. In 1976 Kurokawa-Nō was declared an important national cultural heritage.
