Distance column Berggießhübel

The listed electoral distance column Berggießhübel is one of the post mile columns that were erected in the first half of the 18th century in the Electorate of Saxony on behalf of Elector Friedrich August I of Saxony by Land and Border Commissioner Adam Friedrich Zürner . It is located on Ladenberg not far from the Gottleubabrücke in the Berggießhübel district in the Eastern Ore Mountains twin town of Bad Gottleuba-Berggießhübel in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district .

history

It is a replica with an original part of the coat of arms. Originally a distance column was erected on the market in 1727. This was a victim of the floods of July 8th and 9th, 1927. On May 8th, 1957, a replica of the destroyed distance column was erected at its current location with the original coat of arms of a distance column from Meißen , which last stood in the garden of the Liebenecke restaurant in Cossebaude . In 1981 it was restored. By chance, the coat of arms on the original Berggießhübel column was recovered in 1977 from the Gottleuba river bed , approx. 200 meters from the old location. This coat of arms is in the exhibition of the Osterzgebirgsmuseum Schloss Lauenstein .

construction

The distance column consists of seven parts. The base, pedestal and the crown of the pedestal form the substructure. The superstructure consists of an intermediate plate, shaft, coat of arms piece and attachment.
