Saxon half-mile column Altenberg

The listed half-mile column Geising is one of the post-mile columns that were erected in the first half of the 18th century in the Electorate of Saxony on behalf of Elector Friedrich August I of Saxony by Land and Border Commissioner Adam Friedrich Zürner . It is located on Alte Dresden-Teplitzer Poststrasse near the Fürstenwalde district of the small town of Altenberg in the Eastern Ore Mountains in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district .

history

The half-mile column bears the year 1729 and the inscriptions Dreßden 9 St. and Toeplitz 3 1/2 St. and the row number 18. It is made of Elbe sandstone . In 1902 the column is said to have fallen apart. In 1967 missing pieces were added and the column was re-erected at the original location.
