The listed half-mile column Zwönitz is one of the post-mile columns that were erected in the first half of the 18th century in the Electorate of Saxony on behalf of Elector Friedrich August I of Saxony by Land and Border Commissioner Adam Friedrich Zürner . It is located on the old post road from Chemnitz to Schwarzenberg / Erzgeb. , today's Grünhainer Straße not far from the small town of Zwönitz in the Western Ore Mountains in the Ore Mountains .

This half-mile pillar is a copy of the post-mile pillar originally located not far from this point from 1724 with the row number 46 on the then post road from Chemnitz to Schwarzenberg . The pillar was erected at the end of the 1990s on behalf of the city of Zwönitz, together with two other copies, a quarter milestone and a full mile pillar, and, in contrast to the original, which consisted of Greifenstein granite , was made of Elbe sandstone with a base made of Lusatian granite . In the meantime, the original Poststrasse has been converted to the current street layout.
