Kurt-Helmut Schiebold (born October 17, 1947 in Simbach am Inn ) is a retired Brigadier General . D. He is married and has two sons.

Military background

In 1969 he was called up as a conscript with later takeover as a regular soldier . He received training and employment as an officer in the telecommunications force in Starnberg, Feldafing and Munich. In 1972 he began studying communications engineering at the Air Force University of Applied Sciences and, from 1973, at the University of the Federal Armed Forces, Munich, which he obtained in 1975 as a Dipl.-Ing. (FH) graduated. Then he was employed as ZgFhrOffz in 2./mFmVerbBtl 870, Weingarten and as S3 / FmOffz of mFmVerbBtl 870, Weingarten. In 1977 he was taken on as a professional soldier and a change of troop type to the repair troop, deployed as InstStOffz of 4./GebInstBtl 8 in Munich. Three years later in 1980 he became KpChef 4./EloInstBtl 210, Munich. In 1981 he received training in the 24th General Staff / Admiralty Staff Course at the Management Academy of the Federal Armed Forces (FüAkBw) in Hamburg and in 1983 became a consultant / department head at the Office for Military Studies (AMK) under BrigGen Georg Bautzmann, Munich. Further stations were:

  • 1987 G3, Panzergrenadierbrigade 30, Ellwangen / Jagst under BrigGen Konrad Bader;

In 1992, Schiebold also received training at the NATO Defense College (NDC) in Rome and then worked as a senior consultant at the BMVg FüS II 2 in Bonn. In 1993 he became Senior Research Fellow at the Special Advisor for Central and Eastern European Affairs (CAEE), Chris Donnelly , in the office of Secretary General (Dr. Manfred Wörner ) at NATO headquarters in Brussels. Planning staff officer (Policy) at the International Military Staff (IMS) / Plans & Policy (P&P) and Cooperation & Regional Security (C&RS) at the NATO headquarters in Brussels were further stations in 1994. In 1997 he was employed as Director Joint Operations Center (JOC), Headquarters (HQ) SFOR, Ilidza in Bosnia and Herzegovina . In 1998 he was promoted to Chief of Staff, Command Air Mobile Forces (KLK) / 4. Division, from Division Special Operations (DSO) in Regensburg under GenMaj Volker Löw, GenMaj Christian Beck and GenMaj Hans Otto Budde, Regensburg. After training at the US Army War College, Carlisle (PA), USA in 2001, he received a Master of Strategic Studies (MSS). In 2002 there was a deployment as a commander, German contingent FOX in Skopje , Macedonia (July to November 2002) and then z. b. V. DSO, Regensburg. From April 2003 to June 2005 he was Deputy Commander DSO in Regensburg under GenMaj Rainer Glatz. From October 2003 to January 2004 he was in command of the first German contingent KUNDUZ and National Commander in Kunduz in Afghanistan . He was promoted to brigadier general on April 1, 2005. He then became general of the army logistics troops and commander of the technical school for land systems and the technical school of the army for technology (TSL / FSHT) in Aachen. From February to August 2009 he was Deputy Chief of Staff Operations (DCOS OPS) at the KFOR HQ, Pristina, Kosovo. He was retired on October 31, 2009.

Since the summer semester 2010 he has been teaching “Disaster Management, Logistics and Quality Management” at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University for Applied Sciences in the international part-time MBA course in CSR-NGO Management.
