Kurt Behrend

Kurt Behrend (born September 8, 1905 in Berlin ; † April 8, 1989 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Kurt Behrend attended a secondary school and did an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer at Borsig . In 1922 he joined the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) and a year later both the union and the SPD. He studied at the Gauß engineering school . From 1926 he worked for forty years as a production engineer at Bewag .

After the Second World War , Behrend became a works council in 1945 and, from 1952, an employee representative on the supervisory board of Bewag. In the Berlin election in 1954 , he was elected to the district assembly in the Reinickendorf district. In the 1963 election he was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives, to which he was a member until 1971.

Behrend was a member of the board of the Freie Volksbühne Berlin from 1948 to 1958 .
