Kurt Fischer (born April 27, 1923 ; † unknown) was a German soccer player who became GDR champion and cup winner with the SG Volkspolizei / Dynamo Dresden in the early 1950s.

Athletic career

In the summer of 1950, at the age of 27, Fischer received an invitation to a viewing course organized by the GDR sports association, the German People's Police . Football players from all the People's Police Sports Groups in the GDR were to be selected for the newly formed SG People's Police in Dresden. Dresden had been designated as the location of the future top team of the police sports association. Fischer, who had previously played with the SG Volkspolizei Weimar in the second-class regional league Thuringia, was one of the players selected for the SG Volkspolizei Dresden.

In the 1950/51 season, VP Dresden was incorporated into the upper league of the German Sports Committee (later GDR upper league ) without any athletic qualifications . Fischer was in the team from day one and only missed two of the 34 point games. Usually storming on the right attacking side, he scored three goals. After the 12th place in the first season, the SG Volkspolizei was runner-up in 1951/52. This time Fischer played all 36 championship games, but, now used as the right wing runner , did not score any more. Dresden crowned the season by winning the GDR soccer cup with a 3-0 win over Einheit Pankow . Fischer was also in the right midfield in this game. A year later, the Dresden team, renamed SG Dynamo Dresden during the 1952/53 season, were GDR champions. Of the 32 league games, Fischer played 28 games in his usual position and was also used in the playoff for the championship against Wismut Aue (3-2 afterwards). Fischer completed his last league season in 1953/54, in which he was placed again in all 28 point games. After 126 championship games and three league games, Fischer withdrew from high-performance sport at the age of 31.
