Kurt Fricke (historian)

Kurt Fricke (* 1967 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German historian, publisher and author.

Life

Fricke completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith and did military service. From 1989 to 1995 he studied history and philosophy at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg , graduating with a Magister Artium. He then worked as a freelance historian for two years. In 2000 he received his doctorate with a biography of the actor and artistic director Heinrich George . Since autumn 2000 he has worked as a lecturer at Mitteldeutscher Verlag (specialist and non-fiction books, regionalia). He wrote various publications on German contemporary history. In November 2010 he published his prose debut The Flight of the Whales with short stories .
