Kurt Gebhardt (politician, 1923)

Kurt Gebhardt (born July 24, 1923 in Stuttgart ; † June 5, 2015 ) was a German lawyer, local politician and Lord Mayor of Waiblingen .

Life

Kurt Gebhardt studied law and political science in Tübingen . During this time he became a member of the Tübingen fraternity Derendingia . 1956 Gebhardt settled down as a lawyer in his native Stuttgart. He worked in this profession until 1963, after which he was Lord Mayor of Waiblingen until 1970. From 1975 to 1987 he was a member of the Stuttgart municipal council and chairman of the FDP parliamentary group (from 1984). He was also a managing board member of the Baden-Württemberg City Council (1970 to 1988). He also worked for the German Red Cross (DRK), from 1987 to 1994 as President of the DRK regional association in Baden-Württemberg. He was then appointed honorary president. Gebhardt was chairman of the board of directors of the DRK blood donation service.

Gebhardt was awarded several medals, including the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg , the Great Federal Cross of Merit and the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic .

Gebhardt was married and has three children.
