Kurt Leick

Kurt Leick (born January 26, 1942 in Silwingen ; † April 1, 2007 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and savings bank director.

Leick attended the secondary school in Merzig and then completed an apprenticeship as a banker. At the Saarland University of Applied Sciences , he studied business administration as an evening course and passed the diploma in business administration. As early as 1960, Leick worked for Kreissparkasse Merzig (later Sparkasse Merzig-Wadern) in various positions, from 1993 to 2000 as a member of the board of directors.

From 1960 onwards, Leick belonged to the trade union trade, banks and insurance companies (later ver.di ). In 1972 he joined the SPD local club in Hilbringen , in 1977 he was one of the founding members of the local club Mondorf-Silwingen. In 1979 he was elected chairman of the SPD city association Merzig and deputy chairman of the Merzig-Wadern subdistrict. He was also a board member of the Social Democratic Community for Local Politics Saar. In 1979 Leick got a seat on the Merzig city council, and from 1984 he was the city's first honorary councilor. In 1985 he was able to replace Roman Schmit in the Saarland state parliament . In 1990 he was re-elected, but did not accept the mandate.

Leick was a Roman Catholic, married and had two sons.
