Reception building in Markhofgasse

The Schlachthausgasse underground station is a stop on the Vienna underground line U3. It is located in the 3rd district of Vienna, Landstrasse, under Markhofgasse and Alfred-Dallinger-Platz. The eponymous Schlachthausgasse, today an important secondary thoroughfare in the 3rd district, the name of which is derived from the formerly nearby slaughterhouses in Sankt Marx , runs above the station across the tracks. The station was opened on April 6, 1991 with the first section of the U3.

The double-track station has a central platform and exits at both ends of the platform. The exit towards the city center is equipped with fixed stairs and an elevator . The reception building there has exits to Schlachthausgasse and Hainburger Weg, which are arranged one above the other due to the conditions of the local area and connected by an outside staircase outside the station. The eastern exit to Markhofgasse has a fixed staircase and an elevator as well as an escalator .

The eastern terminus of tram line 18 and the stops of bus line 77A are in front of the reception building on Markhofgasse . Line 80A stops in the direction of Praterstern in Schlachthausgasse, in the direction of Neu Marx in Würtzlerstraße. A nearby attraction is the Remise Transport Museum .
