Kurt Meyberg (born May 21, 1936 in Thüste ) is a German mathematician who studies algebra .

Meyberg studied mathematics and physics at the University of Münster from 1956 to 1962 . He received his doctorate in 1964 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich under Max Koecher (on the trace of the quadratic representation of Jordan algebras). He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1965/66 . In 1969 he completed his habilitation in Munich and in 1970 became a scientific adviser and professor at the University of Münster. 1971/72 he was visiting professor at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. From 1972 he was at the Technical University of Munich , from 1976 as an adjunct professor and from 1978 as a professor (associate professor).

He is mainly concerned with Jordan algebras . He wrote widely used textbooks on algebra and introductions to mathematics for engineers and scientists. The latter has also been translated into Japanese. It also includes basic illustration programs.
