Kurt Nuspliger

Kurt Nuspliger (* 1949 ) is a Swiss legal scholar and former state clerk for the Canton of Bern . He made a name for himself with publications on Bern constitutional law .

Nuspliger studied law at the University of Bern and graduated with a state examination as an advocate and a doctorate . From 1976 to 1978 he was an assistant at the seminar for public law at the University of Bern, from 1978 to 1982 legal assistant at the Federal Assembly's secretariat . In 1982 he took up the position of Vice State Clerk. On February 13, 1985 he was elected State Clerk of the Canton of Bern . In 1991 Nuspliger was the SP's candidate for the election of the Federal Chancellor, but Vice-Chancellor François Couchepin ( FDP ) was elected. Since 1994 he has been an honorary professor with a teaching position for constitutional law at the University of Bern and since 2003 lecturer at the Competence Center for Public Management at the University of Bern. At the end of May 2013 he resigned from his position as state clerk.

Nuspliger is married, has three children and lives in Bern.
