Kurt Stepancik
Kurt Stepancik (born December 27, 1922 in Vienna ; † July 2, 2003 in Mödling , Lower Austria ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).
Life
Kurt Stepancik grew up in Mödling, where he attended elementary school from 1928 to 1932 , and then went to secondary school until 1936 . In 1936 he went to the teacher training college in Vienna as a pupil, which he completed by 1941. 1941 also had Stepancik military service in the armed forces do, and got 1945 in Ostfriesland short time in Allied captivity .
In 1946, shortly after his return to Austria, Stepancik became a teacher at the elementary school in the market town of Achau . In 1947 he became interim school director and in 1952, following an official announcement, full director. Stepancik then remained the head of the Achau elementary school until 1983. In 1973 he was awarded the title of High School Councilor.
In 1954 Stepancik ran successfully for the office of mayor of Achau. He worked in this role for 29 years until 1983. Stepancik was sworn in as a member of the Federal Council in Vienna in March 1982 . He was active as a Federal Councilor for a further five years, until November 1987.

- Silver medal for services to the federal state of Lower Austria
Today the Kurt-Stepancik-Platz in Achau also bears the name of the politician.
