Kurt Voigt (soccer player)

Kurt Voigt (born February 10, 1928 in Bocholt ; † May 9, 1973 there ) was a German football player .

Life

Kurt Voigt grew up in Bocholt, Westphalia, and began playing football as a youth at 1. FC Bocholt . After the end of the Second World War , the 17-year-old became an integral part of the club's newly built first team, which he led in 1949/50 for promotion to the then highest amateur league, the Lower Rhine Regional League . In 1952 he moved to Switzerland professionally and joined FC Biel-Bienne , Swiss champion from 1947 and runner-up in 1948. This had just been relegated to the National League B and Kurt Voigt helped him to rise again in the 1952/53 season with 16 goals. In the Swiss National League A , however, the direct relegation followed in the 1953/54 season . Kurt Voigt then returned to Germany and rejoined his home club 1. FC Bocholt. As team captain , he made 20 goals in the district class season 1955/56 for the club's promotion to the national league. Three years later, the trained middle runner led the Bocholt team to promotion to the Niederrhein Association League . After a serious knee injury, he had to end his playing career during the 1961/62 season, at the same time he took over the coaching post from Paul Zielinski in the second half of the season .

After his career ended due to injury, he was also the coach of VfL Rhede , VfL Ramsdorf , TuS Borken and von Westfalia Gemen in the 1960s .
