Kurt Wiese
Kurt Wiese (born April 22, 1887 in Minden ; † May 27, 1974 in Idell , New Jersey ) was an illustrator of German descent who illustrated around 300 children's books.
He went to China as part of his commercial training , where he was captured during the First World War . Many of his illustrations are therefore influenced by Chinese. I.a. he illustrated the "Freddy Books" with the main character Piggy Freddy. He later emigrated to the USA , where he married Gertrude Hansen and settled in New Jersey, where he ran a farm until his death.
