Reidar Osvald Kvammen (born July 23, 1914 in Stavanger , † October 27, 1998 ibid) was a Norwegian football player . He played for Viking Stavanger for 19 years and played 284 games in which he scored 202 goals, which is a club record to this day.

National team

Kvammen played his first international game on November 5, 1933 against Germany together with his almost 9 years older brother Arthur, who also played for Viking, but for whom this remained the only international game. He had previously played two B internationals. His first of a total of 17 goals for the national team, he scored on September 2, 1934 in a 1-1 draw against Finland . In 1936 he took part in the Olympic Games with the Norwegian team and was part of the team that defeated hosts Germany 2-0 in the round of 16, which led to the dismissal of Reich trainer Otto Nerz . In the semifinals, the team was defeated by the world champion and later Olympic champion Italy only in extra time with 1: 2, but was able to win the bronze medal game against Poland 3: 2. This is the greatest success of the Norwegian men's national team to date. Two years later he was eliminated with Norway in the second round of the World Cup, also against Italy with 0-2. He was the first Norwegian to make 50 international matches. His 51st game on June 19, 1949 against Yugoslavia was his last international match. So he remained Norway's record international player until October 31, 1954 and was then replaced by Thorbjørn Svenssen , with whom he had played three times at the beginning of his international career.
