Kwaku Boateng (athlete)
Kwaku Boateng ( Kwaku-Barima Boateng; born June 30, 1974 ) is a former Canadian high jumper of Ghanaian origin.
Starting for Ghana, he was eliminated from qualification at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria. He stayed in Canada as a refugee and started in 1997 for his new home.
In 1999 he was declared the winner at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg with his compatriot Mark Boswell after the Cuban Javier Sotomayor had been disqualified for doping, and was sixth at the World Athletics Championships in Seville .
At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he came in twelfth place.
In 2001 he was twelfth at the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon , won silver at the Francophonie Games and was eighth at the World Championships in Edmonton .
At the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 and at the La Francophonie Games in 2005, he won silver.
