Kyle of Lochalsh ( Scottish Gaelic : Caol Loch Aillse ) is a village of 649 people on the north-west coast of Scotland , which developed in the late 19th century with the arrival of the railroad. The place is the end point of the railway line from Inverness via Dingwall , which is also known as the Kyle of Lochalsh Line after its destination .
Kyle of Lochalsh is opposite the Hebridean island of Skye on the Skye Bridge, built in 1995 . The place is the traffic and trade center of the region and has a port and marina .
