Lesa on Lake Maggiore

Lesa is a municipality on the west bank of Lake Maggiore with 2212 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian province of Novara (NO), Piedmont region .

geography

The municipality consists of the districts of Villa Lesa, Solcio, Comnago and Calogna. The neighboring municipalities are Belgirate , Brovello-Carpugnino ( VB ), Ispra ( VA ), Massino Visconti , Meina , Nebbiuno , Ranco and Stresa . The patron saint of the place is San Martino .

The place is located in a small bay next to Belgirate , and across from Ispra , which is on the other side of Lake Maggiore. The municipality covers an area of ​​12 km².

Attractions

Many historical documents and memorabilia of great people who stayed in the place are kept in Lesa. Among them, for example, those by Alessandro Manzoni , Giulio Carcano and Camillo Benso from Cavour . In the small village there are villas from various eras, with the oldest dating from the Middle Ages. A castle ruin also dates from this time.
