L'Aħwa is a Maltese singing group consisting of seven siblings that was founded in March 2014.
history
L'Aħwa consists of the seven siblings Dorothy, Samaria, Gianluca , Paul, Joseph, Vincienne and Francesca Bezzina. The group was formed in March 2014 to perform a concert for their late grandfather Gaetano Buttigieg , who shaped the Maltese music scene in the 1950s and 1960s. They took part in the concert Kelma Kelma u Nota Nota , part of the Malta Arts Festival , which was supported by the Ministry of Culture and its minister, Marie-Louise Coleiro.
Dorothy Bezzina has given concerts as a solo artist both in Malta and internationally and has appeared with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra . She also took part in several editions of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest , the Maltese preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest. Dorothy still receives lessons from the pianist Rosetta DeBattista and the soprano Miriam Cauchi. Her sister Samaria Bezzina is a hip-hop dancer and part of the Southville Crew dance group , which gives national and international appearances, and she dances in various Maltese theaters. In 2013 Samaria was her brother Gianluca's accompanist at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö , Sweden .
Gianluca Bezzina represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Sweden, where he came eighth with the song Tomorrow . The singer was also nominated for Best Solo Act and the song Tomorrow for Best Music Video at the Malta Music Awards 2013 . Paul and Joseph Bezzina are guitarists, with Joseph also playing the drums. The two give concerts all over Malta and were part of Gianluca's music video for the song Picture . Vincienne and Francesca are pianists. Francesca also plays the guitar and is learning to play the cello at the Johann Strauss School of Music .
In 2014 they took part in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the song Beautiful to Me and became one of the twenty semi-finalists. The semi-finals took place on November 21, 2014; the final, in which they finished 13th, took place one day later, on November 22nd.
