Lácides Hernández Alvarez (born December 3, 1965 ) is a Colombian theologian , social entrepreneur and peacemaker .

Life

Lácides Hernández Alvarez studied theology at the Universidad Seminario Bíblico de Colombia ( Bachelor ) and did a Master's in Management and Organizational Development at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. He attended numerous training courses, including a. in executive leadership, leadership training, mediation, restorative justice , the APAC method, the program victims and perpetrators in conversation and mentoring of leaders.

Hernández has been with Confraternidad Carcelaria de Colombia (CCC) since 1992 . The affiliate organization of Prison Fellowship International was founded in 1980 and has worked since then in the prisons of Colombia, with families of prisoners, ex-prisoners, with people in a vulnerable situation and with victims and perpetrators of armed conflict . CCC advocates the principle of restorative justice and its motto is prevention - rehabilitation and support .

Hernández began as one of the first in Colombia to proclaim and implement restorative justice programs. Since 2004 he has been running the program “Conversation between victims and perpetrators” (Sycamore Tree Project) in prisons and in society. In 2013 he led the program “Villages of Reconciliation”, which has been carried out in Rwanda since 2003 by Prison Fellowship Rwanda with perpetrators and victims of the genocide , adapted to Colombian conditions, also carried out there. Victims of the armed conflict, ex- guerrilla fighters and ex- paramilitaries take part in roundtables and jointly rebuild destroyed infrastructure in their villages. In 2011, he introduced the Brazilian APAC method to Medellin prisons . The focus is on the human worth of the occupants.

Prison Fellowship Colombia has been a partner organization of the German association Seehaus eV since 2001 and is supported by the Hope Bearers Foundation .
