László Gyimesi (pianist)

László Gyimesi (born June 17, 1948 in Szentes ) is a Hungarian pianist .

Live and act

He completed his training with Péter Solymos and Albert Simon at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest with distinction. He then studied with Géza Anda in Zurich , György Sebők at Indiana University in Bloomington and Stefan Askenase in Bonn .

He was a prizewinner at several international piano competitions, a. a. Leeds International Piano Competition , Liszt-Bartók Competition in Budapest and Valencia International Piano Competition Prize Iturbi. Concert tours have taken him to many European countries, to the USA, Japan, Canada and Cuba. As a soloist he performed a. a. with the Basel Symphony Orchestra , the Budapest Symphony Orchestra , the RIAS Symphony Orchestra , the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana , the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Philharmonia Hungarica .

László Gyimesi worked for many years as a lecturer or professor at various music academies in Baden-Württemberg (Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Stuttgart). He has lived in Switzerland since 1973 and supervises a training and concert class at the Basel University of Music . In addition, Gyimesi gives master classes in the USA, France, Japan, Hungary and Spain and has published a series of videos which cover the most important elements of piano technique. He has recorded records for Ex Libris and Harmonia Mundi .
