Léon Gozlan (born September 1, 1803 in Marseille , † September 14, 1866 in Paris ) was a French writer.

life and work

Léon Gozlan came to Paris in 1828, where he started as a clerk in a bookstore, then worked for Figaro and Corsaire and over the years wrote a number of novels and short stories, most of which were also translated into German.

Of a history of the castles of France that he began, only 2 volumes appeared under the title: Les tourelles (1839). At the same time Gozlan was also active as a dramatic writer. The Théatre Odéon received the play La main droite et la main gauche (1842) from him.

Léon Gozlan died 13 days after his 63rd birthday on September 14, 1866 in Paris and found his final resting place on the Cimetière de Montmartre .
