The Léonie Island ( French Île Leonie ) is the largest and the westernmost of the Léonie Islands in the entrance to Ryder Bay on the southeast coast of the Adelaide Island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It measures 1.5 km in diameter and rises up to 455 m high.
The island was discovered and named during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908-1910) under the direction of the polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . The namesake is unknown.
