The Löberfeld barracks in the Thuringian capital Erfurt in the Löbervorstadt district was built in the 1930s and used by the Wehrmacht , the National People's Army and the Bundeswehr .
history
The Löberfeld barracks were built from 1934. On October 1, 1935, the staff and the 2nd Division of the 1st Panzer Regiment moved in. This unit had previously been set up in Ohrdruf and used the camouflage designation Kraftfahr-Lehrkommando II . During the war , when the tank regiment was used at the front, the barracks were used by other departments.
At the end of the war, various Soviet agencies moved into the building, including the NKVD . Soviet use ended in 1948. For a short time, the area was used for civilian purposes by the Technical University, before the Erfurt People's Police Department moved into the barracks.
From 1956 the NVA took over the barracks. It served as a site barracks for various units and was named Wilhelm Liebknecht Barracks .
With the reunification , the Bundeswehr took over the barracks and still uses it today as Löberfeld barracks. a. for the logistics command of the Bundeswehr .
