The Lüderitz Memorial ( English Lüderitz Memorial ), also Memorial in the Old Cemetery (English Memorial in the Old Cemetery ), was erected in 1903 on the Old Cemetery on Nautilus Hill in the former Lüderitzland at the location of a surveying point and a wooden board with which Adolf was attached Lüderitz had marked his acquisitions in 1883. The weathered wooden panel was brought to the German Colonial Museum in Berlin.

The 2.2 m high monument made of field stones with a plinth , which commemorates the occupation of the country by the German Empire and the time of the Protectorate, was declared a national monument on March 15, 1969.

In 1977 the cemetery was abandoned and the bones transferred to Shark Island . The memorial was moved to the north end of Industrial Road , east of the former Lüderitz Bay Cannery , and on June 10, 1980, along with five meters of surrounding land, was again declared a national monument. Today it no longer has the former pyramidal slope in its upper area. In 1989, the area around the monument was covered with panels in a circle to protect the stability of the obelisk. A restoration took place in 2012.
