Lüts Attena

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lütet Attena († around 1410 / 11 ) was in the 14th century East Frisian chieftain of Dornum and Nesse in Norderland .

Life

Lütet Attena was the son of Hero Attena . His brothers were Eger and Enno Attena. From 1395 Lütet was married to Ocka tom Brok, the daughter of chief Ocko I. tom Broks and Foelke Kampanas from neighboring Brokmerland . They had daughters Etta and Hebe.

death

Lutet's death established the nickname of his mother-in-law, the Quade Foelke (quade = Low German: evil) , which is still known today in East Frisia . After Lütet complained to her about his wife Ocka's infidelity, Foelke is said to have advised him to kill her. When Lütet repeatedly caught Ocka committing adultery, he slew her. Foelke nevertheless sought revenge and used the incident to expand the influence of her family on the Attenas' lands. Lütet fled to the castle of his father Hero, which Foelke besieged and finally took. On their orders, Lütet and his father were executed in the courtyard.
