Universe of art

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Universum der Kunst (French edition under the title L'univers des formes ) is a monographic series on the art history of peoples, which was published jointly in six countries: in France by Gallimard in Paris and in German in Munich by CH Beck . The series has been published since 1960, partly without counting (at CH Beck until 1997). The series was conceived by the versatile French writer, Gaullist politician and art journalist André Malraux (1901–1976) together with Georges Salles, Roger Parry, Albert Beuret and Claude Abeille. The series contains numerous famous individual titles by renowned art historians. The individual volumes are provided with bibliographies and indexes of names and subject matter.

The history of art was presented by Malraux as an extension of his own editorial and theoretical work on artistic creation (1947–1954), the collection was administered by Albert Beuret. Your first volumes were under the artistic direction of Roger Parry. A new edition in a reduced format was published by Gallimard in 2006.
