The LEM HOLDING SA , based in Friborg is an international Swiss manufacturer of components intended for measurement of current and voltage are used, in particular electricity and voltage transformers . The group of companies employs almost 1,300 people and generated sales of 196.8 million Swiss francs in the 2012/13 financial year. history
The company was founded in 1972 as Liaisons Electroniques-Mécaniques LEM SA and initially manufactured 300 A current converters for Swiss trolley buses . In 1982 Lem expanded to France with the establishment of a subsidiary and a year later a holding structure was established. In 1985, Lem went public. In 1989 the company entered the measuring equipment market. In the 1990s, Lem made various acquisitions in Switzerland and abroad.
In 1996 the group comprised the two divisions Components and Instruments with the two business divisions Test Systems and High Current Measurement Systems. From the end of the 1990s, Lem began a phase of divestment in which various fields of activity were sold. Since 2006 Lem has been a pure manufacturer and supplier of components that are used to measure current and voltage.
