LG Menden

The LG Menden is an athletics community from Menden in the Sauerland.

The first LG Menden was founded in 1990 and was an amalgamation of the athletics departments of the clubs SV Menden, TuS Lendringsen and VfL Platte Heide .

1991 won Sigrid Wulsch in the jersey of the LG Menden the German Championship in the marathon . With her seven victories, Sigrid Wulsch is also considered the queen of the New Year's Eve run from Werl to Soest . Volker Welzel was also able to win this in 1983 and 1990.

On December 31, 2008, LG Menden was dissolved when the two parent clubs SV Menden and VfL Platte Heide left. On January 1, 2009, the respective athletics departments of the sports club Menden 1864 and VfL Platte Heide founded a new LG Menden. Their home is the Huckenohl Stadium . This is where both training and competitions organized by LG Menden, especially for schoolchildren and young people, take place.
